“The Mardi Gras Miracle.”

On Fat Tuesday of 1994 I was on my way to a meeting at Normal Presbyterian Church. I was listening to a basketball game. Kentucky was playing LSU at LSU and Kentucky was down 16 points at half time. I was concerned but to make things worse LSU started the second half with an incredible 20-5 run making their lead an insurmountable 31 points. There was no way Kentucky could win. Now being a life-long resident of the state of Kentucky and a UK graduate I could not stand the pain of listening to the rest of the game, so I turned it off. After the meeting, I turned the radio back on, I heard the announcers saying, “This was the greatest comeback in the history of not just the SEC, but in the History of Basketball.” This game was so remarkable that it became known as the Mardi Gras Miracle. And I missed it. O ye of little faith! When all seems lost, remember that you can always count on Jesus Christ to be there, just ask doubting Thomas.
