SUMMARY

In this video, we see two teams competing against each other in a basketball game. The focus however is on one player in particular, Casey. In the video he is obviously wearing a blue shirt so he is saying, “Hey I am on the blue team.” However, as the game goes on he does everything He can to help the red team win it seems. It appears by his actions he is playing for them and is not really on the blue team that he says he is on because he steals the ball from his own team, he shoots the ball in the other team’s goal, he packs his teams’ shoots, he blocks his team, he gives the ball to the other team, gives the ball to the other team for ice cream, and even trips his teammate.

Now obviously Casey looks foolish in the video the way he is acting which is what we will use to relate back to our Christian lives. The parallel that we see here is that so often we say that we are Christians, but the way we live says that we aren’t. This is a problem that needs to be addressed. It will be a good time for the students to reflect on their own lives and ask themselves what do my actions say I am? Whose team do my actions say I play for? It can bring to light if you are even on God's team to begin with, because in the book of James he repeatedly states that our actions prove if we are saved or not. It also gives the opportunity to address what behaviors are considered Christian behaviors and non-Christian behaviors and examine which non- Christian behaviors are in our lives and that we need to get rid of. We can also use this time to teach why our actions our important, which the Bible states many reasons, for instance, they lead people to the Lord and salvation, they can lead people away God (the biggest reason you hear lost people say they don’t want to be saved is because of hypocrites that are no different than them, and because we will have to answer for our actions one day.
