A 1984 study done by McWhirter & Mattison was supposed to show that homosexual relationships are as stable as heterosexual relationships. To prove this point 165 "stable" gay couples were studied to see what percentage would remain monogamous for five years. The study had to be called off because not one of the 165 "stable" gay relationships remained monogamous for the five year period.
