Philosophy No—Wealth Yes: Just under 40% of college freshmen say it is essential to develop a meaningful philosophy of life compared with 86% in ’67. Meanwhile, interest in being “very well-off financially” was at it’s highest level in 13 years finds the 38th annual American Freshman Survey. 60% say keeping up with politics is important (up the last 3 years), while only 45% say they drank beer frequently or occasionally compared with a peak of 74% in ’82.
