Under Funded Retirement: The annual Retirement Confidence Survey by the Employee Benefit Research Institute finds 65% of workers are “very” or “somewhat” confident of funding their retirements. That’s down from 68% last year. Although the overall confidence reading remains high, most workers haven’t saved much. 52% have less than $25,000 set aside for retirement; 13% have $25,000 to $49,999, and 11% have $50,000 to $99,999. Just 21% have $100,000 or more, mostly workers 45 and older. (USA Today 4/5/05)
