Homeschooler numbers continue to grow. Brian Ray of National Home Education Research Institute estimates 1.9 million to 2.4 million K-12 children were home educated during 2005-06. Research shows homeschoolers on average exceed the national average on standardized achievement test for elementary and secondary grades, and they tend to score above the national average on the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. According to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine , 27% of home school households had incomes of $31-$50K. 25% had incomes of $51-70K and 22% had incomes of $71-$100K.
