Girls who become sexually active before 17 are 70% more likely to experience a crisis pregnancy in later life and 300% more likely to procure an abortion in their lifetime than those who wait until they are older, finds an Irish Crisis Pregnancy Agency study. The survey found 14.9% of Irish men and 7.9% of women first engaged in sex when they were under 16. 59% of women and 37% of men regretted it.
