Being a disciple of Christ requires a conscious, committed effort. We will never be effective disciples with a casual, unconcerned approach. It is a lifestyle we are called to commit ourselves unto.

Many initially are willing to follow the Lord, but fail to count the cost. Upon realizing the great sacrifice necessary to follow Him, many are unwilling to pay the price. We must count the cost and be willing to pay the price in service to the Lord.

Many believers suffer "burn-out" or from lack of preparation. Like any other pursuit, if we are to be effective in service, we must make the proper preparations and condition ourselves spiritually.

Being a genuine disciple of Christ is a very tall order. We are to live in such a way that reflects His character and grace. How is that possible? We must pattern our lives after Christ. We are challenged to imitate the Lord we serve.

I fear many fail to consider the seriousness of Jesus' command to make disciples. As followers of Christ, we are all commanded to make other disciples. Thankfully, our Lord provided insight to His great command.
