Like the Gospel writer Luke, as Christians pray and offer whatever they are doing for Jesus Christ, God will use them for His glorious purposes!

11. Christ’s Childhood

As Christians, we have responsibilities on earth (family, work, school, society, etc…), but we must always remember where we ultimately belong (we are citizens of heaven)!
When Jesus Christ was on earth, He was fully man and fully God! This of course is a mystery, but it is truth. This is similar to the truth and mystery of God is One but exists in Three Persons. Water baptism is only a symbol of what has happened in a person’s heart!
As a church, one of our Statement of Faith is: Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. Jesus told John that it was the right thing to do and event hough John didn’t understand it, he obeyed Jesus.
We noted last week that John the Baptist baptized with water to prepare people for the coming Messiah Jesus Christ and to teach them about the good news of ultimate forgiveness of sins. If we do not allow anything to get in the way of following Jesus Christ, we will be “fishers of men” as well, leading them to be saved from their sins!
