Rehoboam was almost a hero. He stood at the threshold of greatness but chose poorly and destroyed everything his father and grandfather had built. Through his example we can perhaps learn to better follow the ways of Jesus.

We begin a series looking at some heroes of the Old Testament. We begin with a great hero who was called a man after God’s own heart: David. We’ll uncover one of David’s most important qualities and contributions to us in our day and age.

Moses was a great example of someone who sacrificed for what he believed in. We’ll look at this model of sacrifice that eventually was surpassed by the ultimate model: Jesus.</

Deborah was a hero for Israel when a it was a time when women were not respected as leaders. She models for us an acute understanding of respect for herself and others.

Our last hero, Josiah, shows us what it means to be a breakthrough hero. What Josiah is able to accomplish sets the stage for the renewal of a pivotal worship practice that prepares the way for Jesus’ new covenant.
