Boaz had a "rude awakening" when he found Ruth at his feet on the winnowing floor. She had a need and Boaz was the answer to her need. In the same way, God meets our need for a redeemer.

When we see Ruth at the feet of the lord of the harvest, this is the turning point in the whole story of this book. Up till now, RUTH is laboring, with some protection and provision from Boaz. But from this point on, BOAZ is busy!

When people emigrate to a new country, they leave everything familiar and start a new, different life. This is what Ruth experienced when she came with Naomi to Israel. But in doing so, there is much more she gained! As do believers when we trust in Christ, the topic of this sermon.

Upon her return to Behtlehem, Naomi told people to stop calling her Naomi, Hebrew for “Pleasant, and to call her “Mara,” (“bitter”). Naomi was bitter against God. This sermon explains why Naomi was wrong and how her sorrow was the prelude for the biggest blessing of her life.
