An overview of the book of Romans with background given. Application to life given in the fact that this church was founded by laymen, not apostles. Truly, God can use the base things of this world to confound the mighty!

2. Paul And His Calling

To carry the gospel rooted in the Jewish faith to a Gentile world that could care less would require a special man. That man was Paul. In the Providence of God, Paul went forth to bring the gospel to the world. God wanted us to hear the gospel!

When God needed to lift the gospel from the Jewish context that predominated in the early church, He knew that it would take a special man. And He had just such a man prepared. Truly, Paul had a unique commission.

Before one can understand salvation, he must understand why we need it! Our series is named, Salvation Why? and How? Paul lays the foundation for his treatise on salvation in chapters 4 and 5. Mankind is hopelessly lost!
