Summary: What it takes to add value to people.

Do you have any difficult people in your life?

Ephesians 4:29-32 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." (NIV)

Adding Value to People takes:

1. Controlling My Mouth. Vs. 29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,"

Unwholesome in the Greek is "sapros" meaning:Bad, rotten, decayed; anything that injures or sparks dissentions of any kind.

James 3:1-12

The word "perfection" in the Greek literally means, "mature or healthy."

Understand your tongue is the steering wheel to your life!

Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." (ESV)

Know your words can give either death or life to your relationships.

Proverbs 21:23 "Those who are careful about what they say keep themselves out of trouble." (NCV)

Your tongue is an indicator to what is really inside you!

James tells us that we all have a problem with an inconsistent tongue, praising one second, cursing the next. Therefore we must identify the source.

Matthew 12: 34 "For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (GNT)

If you have a problem with your tongue it is more serious than you think, you have a heart problem.

2. I must Value People! Vs. 29 "but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

How can I add value to people around me?

-Value them!

-Know and relate to what they value.

-Make yourself more valuable. Grow in Your Faith!

John Maxwell says, THINK!

-Is this True?

-Is it Helpful?

-Is it Inspiring?

-Is it Necessary?

-Is it Kind?

3. Getting rid of my personal pain. Vs. 31-32 "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Getting to the Root of the problem is dealing with what is inside of you.

Question: Are you going to add value to the people around you?
