&:58……And the witnesses laid down their clothes ate the feet of a young man named Saul..

Prayer….

Verse 1 Now Saul was A)consenting to his death. At that time a great B)persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, C)except the apostles.

A) Consenting — agree with. To accept.

What do we do if we see or hear bad thing being done to a fellow Child of God?

B) Persecution broke out. Scattered through the region!

2000 were martyred. Nicodor.

God using persecution to fulfil Acts 1:8— Witnesses Judea Samaria.

So will God use your circumstances to get your attention.

AMERICAN GIRL… Turks

C) Except Apostles: Why? God had plan for them.

I. Writing of Gospels.

II. Oversee work of God

Verse 2. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made A)great lamentation over him

A)Burial of Stephen.. Great lamentation…Hit on chests.

Verse 3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.

As for Saul…. Compared to verse 2. ..Made havoc—to devastate or ruin...

Homes … every house , men and women

Cycle of Sin:

Saul 1st V58 Looked on….. Looked

2nd V1 Carried approval….. liked

3rd V3 made havoc….acted

James 1:14-15 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

1st tempted drawn away .. Just going to look

2nd desire conceived .. Like what I see

3rd Full-grown .. Do it !

Result of sin:

1st own desire

2nd birth to sin

3rd brings death

Adulterous affair . Look, like, do // Stealing. Look, like, take it.

I can hear refrain of Stephens words … do not charge them with this sin..

Jesus .. Father forgive them, don’t know what they do..

We know that they will be charged if not repent…

Rom 6:23. Wages of sin…

Verse 4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word

Result of persecution… preaching the Word…

Verse 5-6 Then A) Philip went down to the city of Samaria and B) preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the C) miracles which he did. 7 For D) unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralysed and lame were healed

A) Phillip… deacon Acts 6:5.. Came same way than Stephen..

now Evangelist.. Act 21:8

B) His message .. Jesus the Christ…

C) Same results as Peter, John, Stephen.

God shows no partiality.

D) Unclean spirits cry with loud voice….

Notice this was when they came out...manifestation…

Not the same as to be filled with the spirit.

Examples of unclean Spirits came out loud voice…

Mt 12:43, Mark 1:23, Mark 1:26,

Verse 8 And there was great joy in that city

great Joy!

What Gospel does brings joy.

This Joy only comes through real revival… in a city.

1. The proper joy for Christians should be the winning of souls.

Psalm 126 4 Bring back our captivity, O Lord, As the streams in the South. 5 Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. 6 He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.

In soul winning there is the joy of the Holy Ghost, joy of answered prayers, joy of seeing sinners saved.

Such joy enters into that joy of heaven in the presence of the angels….

Luke 15: 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance

10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
