Summary: This is a stusy of the seven pieces of furniture in the tabernacle. My main resource for this study is Kevin Conner’s book, The Tabernacle of Moses.

The Tabernacle

Central Truth: We are God’s tabernacle and God is building a place He can live in

Scripture: EXO 25:1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

2 "Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.

3 "And this is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze;

4 "blue and purple and scarlet yarn, fine linen thread, and goats’ hair;

5 "rams’ skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood;

6 "oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense;

7 "onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate.

8 "And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.

Lesson points:

1. Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. The offering that God

wants from us is our lives.

ROM 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as

living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. (Niv)

2. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering. God can

only work as He wants to in us when we give ourselves to Him willingly.

3. You shall take My offering. We are to give to God what he asks for, not what we decide

to give Him.

4. And this is the offering which you shall take from them

5. Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. The very purpose of the

tabernacle. 2CO 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with

idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them,

and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

6. Why should I study the tabernacle?

A. 2TI 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doc-

trine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man

of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

B. HEB 10:7 Then I said, ’Behold, I have come - in the volume of the book it is

written of Me - to do Your will, O God.’ "

C. GAL 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we

might be justified by faith. The revelation of the tabernacle was given at the same

time that the law was given.

D. ROM 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our

learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have

hope.

Memory verse: 2CO 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
