The two major events are found in chapter 19. They are the marriage of the lamb (vs. 9) and the second coming of Christ (vs. 11). Two great suppers are also found here in this chapter as well – the marriage supper of the lamb vs. 7-9 and the supper of the great God when of the birds come and feast upon the corpse of his enemies vs. 17-18

Rev 19:1-2 (NASB) “After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; BECAUSE HIS JUDGMENTS ARE TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and HE HAS AVENGED THE BLOOD OF HIS BOND-SERVANTS ON HER."

a. John heard – v. 1

(1) a loud voice

- of a great multitude in heaven saying:

"Hallelujah!

Hallelujah = praise the Lord. Hallelujah is found four times in the book of Revelation and it is only found in Revelation chapter nineteen.

Psalm 104:35 “Let sinners be consumed from the earth And let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!”

- salvation, glory, honor, and power belong to the Lord

- His judgments are true and righteous

- He has judged the great harlot who had corrupted the earth

- He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants

Rev 19:3 (NASB) “And a second time they said, "Hallelujah! HER SMOKE RISES UP FOREVER AND EVER."

b. John hears them speak again saying – v. 3

"Hallelujah! HER SMOKE RISES UP FOREVER AND EVER."

Rev 19:4 (NASB) “And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!"

c. The twenty-four elder and the four living creatures – v. 4

(1) fell down

(2) worshiped

- God who sits on the throne

(3) said

"Amen. Hallelujah!"

Some have questioned this rejoicing knowing that they are praising God for the destruction of much of humanity. Where are the tears for the slain they ask? Why is there not sorrow for those who have died? I can see this happening in 3 ways:

First – the tears are gone because the great battle between good and evil is finally won. I remember seeing a pictures of soldiers at the end of World War Two when victory was officially declared folks ran in the streets.

People were running and jumping for joy. The war that caused so much death and suffering was over. I doubt if you would have found anyone in this country crying for the enemy that day.

Second – the awful persecution of the saints on earth is finished.

Third – God is now setting things right. The old things are passing and a new order is about to take hold.

Rev 19:5 (NASB) “And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great."

e. A voice from the throne said – v. 5

"Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great."

Rev 19:6-7 (NASB) “Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."
