Introduction

A problem had begun to develop in the churches. The problem of toleration–allowing heresy to coexist with the truth in the church–had become a major problem. It was very evident at Thyatira.

In the church, there was a woman whom John called Jezebel.

She apparently claimed absolute authority. She claimed to have special insights into the deep things of God. She was perverting the truth by corrupt teaching.

Jezebel is the deity of Satan, Satan is known as a lion and that is where we come to the title of the message this evening

“There is a Lion in the Street.”

The lazy man says, "There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!" Proverbs 22:13 (NKJV)

Our laziness has produced and easy access for the enemy.

The scriptures warn us in 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

In the church at Thyatira, the roaring lion was Jezebel and that roaring lion is ever present today.

There is but one King, King Jesus

We have heard it said that the lion is the king of the jungle.

Satan has self-proclaimed himself as the king of this world. This self-proclaimed king will appear in the great tribulation as the false messiah, the anti-christ, the false king.

One must beware of following a false king.

Scriptures tell us that in the last days there would appear many false kings until the false messiah, the anti-christ does really appear.

Today there are many that are following the path of the false king.

We must turn back to the true King not the earthly king that desires to devoir you.

God is speaking to us today though his Word.

What are we as a church going to do about it?

“There is a lion in the street.”

Our society is not held accountable to be responsible.

Because we have removed God out of our schools, our homes and the public arena, we are open to the prey of the old lion.

We must bath ourselves in the Word of God, being confident, filled with the knowledge of God admonishing one another at all times. (Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. Romans 15:14 (NKJV)

Humble yourself before the Lord.

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

9Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

10But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

11To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-11 (NKJV)

We see the false lion, the signs of the antichrist in the pulpits, those that tell you they know who the antichrist is and know when the Lord is coming.

We see the false lion in those that state they have new revelation from God.

We see the false lion saying they have the gift of slaying one in the spirit.

We see the false lion preaching prosperity.

We see the false lion seeking money for special prayer clothes.

Yes there is a lion in the street and he is going to and fro seeking whom he may devour.

Conclusion

Seek ye first the kingdom of God

Trust the Lord God Almighty with all your heart and all your soul.

Make The Lord Jesus Christ the lord of your life.
