# 18~ FIFTEEN & SIXTEEN~ BIBLE NUMBER MEANINGS 2-18-12

FIFTEEN is the number for REST, The number FIFTEEN is found 24 times in our KJ Bible. REST is the result of DELIVERANCE, or SALVATION. (#14)

FIVE if you’ll recall carries a two fold meaning, "death & grace" and THREE is the number of divine perfection, The Trinity and also the Resurrection as well.

Fifteen being 8 + 7 {"7" completion- "8" new beginning} as well as 3 x 5, pointing {3} DIVINE {5} GRACE as at the RESSURRECTION {3} we will receive NEW {8} bodies.

As we will then be in a continuous day of REST

Fifteen, therefore, specially refers to acts wrought by DIVINE GRACE.

Three times in the year Israel RESTED on the FIFTEENTH day of the month.

The Passover was the first festival and began on the evening of the fourteenth day (which Israel counted as the beginning of the fifteenth) of Nisan the first month of the Jewish year.

The Passover commemorated Israel’s deliverance {14th day} from the slavery of Egypt, and as such it prefigured deliverance by Christ from the bondage of sin.

Just as the Passover celebrated God’s great redemptive act of the O.T., the Lord’s Supper celebrates God’s great redemptive act of the N.T.

Leviticus 23:6-7 On the FIFTEENTH day of the same month (the first month) (Nissan-our mar & April) is the feast of the un-leavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In the first day (15th) ye shall have an holy convocation:*( called out, i.e. a public meeting) ye shall do no servile work therein. (Rest)

The second time the people rested was the FIFTEENTH day of the Seven Month.

Leviticus 23:34-35 The FIFTEENTH day of this SEVENTH month (Tishri-our Sept. & Oct.) shall be the feast of the tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord. On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. (Rest)

On these two occasions they RESTED from their work on the FIFTEENTH day.

The third time the people rested is found in the book of Esther.

Esther 9:20-22 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both nigh and far, to establish this among them that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, (12th mo. ~ our Feb. & Mar.) and the FIFTEENTH day of the same, yearly, as the days wherein the Jews RESTED from their enemies, ---

The fifteenth time Naomi is found is when she said to Ruth

Ruth 3:1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

The rest came through Boaz their kinsman redeemer that we read about in chapter 4:

Boaz, was of the tribe of Judah like Jesus, Boaz bought all that Naomi possessed including Ruth, Naomi a type of Israel, Ruth a type of the gentile church as she was a Moabite, a gentile. Boaz is a picture and type of the Lord Jesus Christ who said in;

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

The Ark was borne by the Flood fifteen cubits upwards.

Genesis 7:20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

Hezekiah’s reprieve from death was fifteen years.

2 Kings 20:6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

The Jews were delivered from death under Esther on the fifteenth day of the month Esther 9:18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

This is especially significant, as their sentence to death was connected with the number thirteen. "The number of wickedness and evil"

Bethany, where Lazarus was raised was fifteen furlongs from Jerusalem.

John 11:18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

Paul’s ship anchored safely in fifteen fathoms on the 14th day, {deliverance} after thirteen days of toil and trial.

Acts 27:21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.--- 28 b- and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms -- == about 90 feet deep.
