Summary: As the body needs water to survive we need the Holy Spirit

Thank you Rev. G. Evensen

Two Percent

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:10-14 KJV

Water is a necessity for life

Civilization has historically flourished around rivers and major waterways; Mesopotamia, the so-called cradle of civilization, was situated between the major rivers Tigris and Euphrates.

Large metropolises like Rotterdam, London, Montreal, Paris, New York City, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Chicago owe their success in part to their easy accessibility via water and the resultant expansion of trade.

Islands with safe water ports, like Singapore and Hong Kong, have flourished for the same reason. In places such as North Africa and the Middle East, where water is more scarce, access to clean drinking water was and is a major factor in the development of civilization.

The reason that New Orleans has existed so long and is being rebuilt is because is sits at the mouth of the Mississippi river where it enters into the Gulf of Mexico and provides a place for the farm goods produced in the heartland of the United States to be transported to ocean going vessels to be distributed around the world.

We even bathe in water. Just try to be around those who refuse to be periodically washed clean by water, and you will know it. There have been court cases about people being refused access to libraries because they refused to bathe and the smell made it so bad for other patrons that they could not study.

Where there is water, all aspects of life flourishes, you cant do without water in your life.

It is said a person can only live for 3 days without food and water, but a person can live much longer with water but no food. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert and while the Bible doesnt give us an example of him drinking during that fast at the end of the fast it tells us he hungered, the implication being that he was not so much thirsty as hungry so he must have had access to water.

There is nothing better on a hot day than a glass of cold water but even for those who insist on something more the basic ingredient of all our soft drinks is water.

Every one of us has a mechanism in the natural called thirst.

Thirst is present because 66% of the Human body is made up from water and that balance must be maintained.

And very early in life we realize a truth, You can’t drink dirt or sand or even oil!

Youve got to drink water

In order to maintain the water levels in the body there is a mechanism called thirst and it is thirst that instinctively keeps us from getting dehydrated.
