Summary: If a person grumbles and complains about their life, or the bad things that have happened to them, they attract negativity and further problems.

Speak out your own Miracle!(part3)

John 6:63

Introduction:

I have mentioned to you last Sunday the style of Jesus when he wants to drive home an important point; he uses stories, or makes some action.

In this particular chapter Jesus was emphasizing the importance of his word.

My goal today, is for you to see that the words of Jesus is literally alive and have power to change your situation

I am encouraging you to know the promises of God because we need to anchor our faith in it.

Our words have power because what you say comes from the heart where we cultivate our faith.

Look at these verses from

Matthew 12:33-37

"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good?

For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.

(It is very important to have a reservoir of God’s word in our hearts because with this we are storing good things in our heart.)

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

The moment one declares with his or her mouth that Jesus is Lord, you are already acquitted.

If one declares that he or she does not believe in Jesus, that word already condemns them.

Every careless words!!!…church, can you pick up what Jesus is trying to say here? Words are powerful!!!

These declarations of Jesus Christ should cause us to sit up and take notice, and consider very carefully what kind of words are coming out of our mouths.

Our passage today is bringing us to a new level of understanding the words of Jesus.Church, don’t treat the words of Jesus casually.

There was a man in John 4:50 that can be used as an example for not taking Jesus words casually

"You may go. Your son will live." The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

If you take Jesus’ words casually, you will become a casualty.

Now let’s go deeper in our passage.

I want you to understand John 6 is not about communion, this about believing in the words and teachings of Jesus.

I. Jesus, The bread of Life.

Verse 35

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Can you see now what I’m trying to say to you last Sunday?

This is the reason why Jesus performed that miracle of multiplication,to reveal to them that He is the real “Bread”

So this miracle was only a shadow and figure of the true one.

It is pretty clear that the consequences of putting one’s faith in Jesus -- believing in Jesus -- are the same as "eating his flesh and drinking his blood." -Dr. Ralph Wilson

In this particular passage Jesus was surrounded with people who don’t believe in Him.

Look out the following verse.

Verse 36:

But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

An unbelieving heart will not receive anything from God.

Jesus wants us to believe in Him and His words.

Bread, is a symbol of sustenance.

Jesus points to Himself that He is the only the source of life.

John 6:48

I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

Jesus is saying here, the spirits of men must feed upon me by faith, that they may be made alive.

II.The word of Jesus gives life.

John 6:63

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

One Pastor gives this 2 scenario about the power of God’s word,

Some time ago He visited 2 cancer patients the other was all ears to what he is sharing from the word of God, lapping and soaking up everything he is sharing. Now he is already worshipping in their church.

The other, when he entered his home, the man had his television on. As he started sharing the word of God he continued watching television program.

This pastor said, I knew then that his healing was lost.

There is no way you can feed on Jesus through reading and hearing His Word, and still remain the same. -Joseph Prince
