Summary: Lesson and study series for the Bible. All Ages from 18-50+. Lesson 2. Starting slowly to get students used to comparing scripture with scripture & have the ability to break each chapter down into sections.

Teaching the Bible. Lesson 1 part 2. Teaching the Bible is an intrical part in the growth of any Christian. We must keep it simple and easy to understand. In lesson 1, we reviewed Matthew, chapters 1 thru 7. Lets look at chapter 8, verses 1 thru 34. Chapter 8 deals with the power of Christ over infirmities and death and His humbleness as a healer, faith and attempted murder. [Read verses 1-4] Mark questions if needed. Question 1. What is an infirmity? [Ref. Romans 8:26, Luke 7:21,Romans 15:1, 2 Co. 12:1 thru 9.] Question 2. Do infirmities always relate to illness? If no, what else can an infirmity be? Verses 5-13 deal with the Power of Christ over all earthly powers. {Note, vs. 11 & 12 are prophecy read, Dan.2: 4 4,Isa 2:2, Romans 9:4, Jude 1:13,2Peter 2: 2: 17} Mark questions if needed. There are many verses of Scripture that deal with Hell, the, Lake of Fire and Judgment. We must understand that the existence of everlasting punishment is real and none shall escape judgment. Many verses in the Bible stand out and this is one. Read. Mat 8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Question 3” In verse 13, what do you believe this means to you? “And as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee” Write down you answer and continue. [Ref. Mark 9:23, Matthew 15:28.] Question 4. Is the healing of infirmities linked to what you believe? If Yes, Why? Verses 14 thru 17 deal with healings. Read vs.14-17. Mark questions if needed. [Ref.Isa.53: 4] Verses 18 thru 22 deal with priorities. [Ref.Eph.2: 1,Col.2: 13] Mark questions if needed. Read the following Verse. Mat 8:20. And Jesus saith unto him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

Question 5. Give your interpretation of verse 20. [Ref.Psa.84: 3, Isa. 53:3.] What does this mean to a Christians Life in the world? Question 6.In verse 22, what does the “dead bury the dead really mean? Is this speaking of the spiritually dead? If so, Why? [Ref. Rom.6: 2, Col. 3: 3,] Verses 8:23 thru 27, deal with faith and attempted murder of Jesus. Read vs.23 thru 27. Mark questions if needed. Question 7. Were the Disciples men of the sea? Would they sail if the weather were going to be bad? [Stop and think about your answer.] Question 8. In verses 24 and 26, is there any similarity? Why? Did Satan and Jesus both do something? What? Question in the preceding questions and answers that you gave; do you believe that Satan tried to murder Jesus? Why? In verses 23 thru 27 we see the importance of interpreting scripture the proper way. Reading and seeing the meaning is of the utmost importance to our spiritual growth. [Ref. Romans 11:33, Col. 2: 3, Luke 24: 25, Eph. 1:18] Question 8. Do we need all three, ”Wisdom, Knowledge & Understanding”, to live in Christ? Why? Read Verses 28-34. Verses 28-34. Deal with removal of evil spirits & fear of the unknown. [Ref. Read Lev 11:7, Deut 14:8, Isa 66:3] Question 9. In the proceeding references, are Swine unclean and why would Jesus refer to them as a parable? [Note; in the first 8 chapters of this lesson in Matthew did you notice that God, in sections, breaks down, each chapter?] This is what a section is; 1.One of the parts into which something is divided:

Division, member, part, piece, portion, segment, subdivision.

2.A part severed from a whole:

Cut, piece, portion, segment, and slice.

3.A particular subdivision of a written work:

Part, passage, segment.

4.To make a division into parts, sections, or branches:

Break up, dissever, divide, part, partition, segment, separate.

[Note; Once you are able to see that every Chapter and Book in the Bible are broken down in “Sections”, then the Bible wont be as hard to understand.] Your input is important for you to understand the Bible. Don’t worry if your answers are wrong, I will help you to understand how to interpret. This is a learning experience. Chapter 9 of Matthew. Read verses 1 thru 8. Verses 1 thru 8 deal with the Power of Christ over not only Sin and His Power to forgive them but also His Power over Illness. Mark questions if needed. Read verses 9 thru 14. Verses 9 thru 14 deals with, the choosing of Matthew as a Disciple, “religion” verses pure religion. Question 10. In your opinion what is the difference between religion and Pure Religion? Mark questions if needed. Read verses 15 thru 17. A parable from Jesus. Read. Mat 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, “Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.” Question 11. Who are the Children in verse 15?
