Summary: If You Walk According to your five senses you can easilly fall into self and outside of God’s will.

The Senses Can Disconnect Us

Introduction

In this third chapter of Genesis we find that God created man in his own image. That’s totally correct, we are made in God’s Image; nonetheless; though we are made in the image of God we yet have limitations.

We are limited by five senses:

1) Touch - Sin occurred when she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat. She had already sinned by coveting that which was not to be coveted

2) Seeing - The sight of sin itself is not sin, but that is where the pathway that leads to sin embarks. Sight alone is no crime; but to desire that which we have innocently seen, if it cannot be ours, is sin

(Deut 5:21: You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

3) Taste - But she deepened her sin by indulging by taking that which was not rightfully hers according to the ruling out of God.

4) Hearing

5) Smelling

And it is through the five senses that we take in all of our information that the mind can process. We must be clear that our limitations do not hinder God, because our relationship with him is through faith, not through our senses.

The serpent targeted the woman’s sense of hearing by speaking with her and then gravitating to her sight. First the serpent said to the woman, you shall surely die.

Three Costly Mistakes on Eves Behalf

1) Eve heard 2) Eve listened 3) Eve harkened

To the voice of Satan and after all of that scripture reveals that she saw (looked) the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took (touched) from it fruit and ate (tasted); and she gave to her hlusband with her, and he ate.

Eyes – Center of Conception – lust of the eye – We want what is Forbidden and know that we can’t have it but pursue it anyway.
