The average couple will spend over a thousand hours planning a wedding ceremony.
Relationships God’s Way—Marriage
1. Effective Communication! Vs. 19 “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.”(NIV)
Successful marriages understand the depth of differences between husbands and wives.
1 Corinthians 2:11a “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him?” (NIV)
Differences bring balance to a marriage. God allows those differences in your marriage for growth.
Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created him." (NIV)
God has the characteristics of both male and female.
Understand the image of God is revealed in the marriage relationship.
Women communicate in feelings and men communicate in facts.
Proverbs 24:3 “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;” (NIV)
When you are spirit filled you communicate in a way that you understand each other’s differences.
Philippians 2:4 "Look out for each other's interests, not just for you own…” (NIV)
2. Effective Worship! Vs. 19 “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,” (NIV)
There is a spiritual connection between Husband and Wife, your relationship to your spouse is an act of obedience and worship.
Is there a spiritual connection in your relationship?
2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” (NIV)
3. Effective Gratitude! Vs. 20 “Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (NIV)
Do you have an attitude of gratitude?
Do you tell your spouse how much you appreciate them?
4. Effective Leadership! Vs. 21 “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (NIV)
Submit—means to “line up under” “to give in”
Are you serving one another?
Matthew 22:39 “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NIV)
How satisfying is your marriage?
