VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. For wilful sinners after receiving the knowledge of the truth

"For if we go on deliberately and willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth,"

Willfully or "hekousios" in Greek meaning:

1. voluntarily, willingly, of one’s own accord

example: to sin wilfully as opposed to sins committed inconsiderately, and from ignorance or from weakness

Hebrews 6:4-6 (Amplified Bible)

6:4 For it is impossible [to restore and bring again to repentance] those who have been once for all enlightened, who have consciously tasted the heavenly gift and have become sharers of the Holy Spirit,

6:5 And have felt how good the Word of God is and the mighty powers of the age and world to come,

6:6 If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance—[it is impossible] to bring them back to repentance, for (because, while, as long as) they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh [as far as they are concerned] and are holding [Him] up to contempt and shame and public disgrace.

Deuteronomy 17:12 (Amplified Bible)

17:12 The man who does presumptuously and will not listen to the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God or to the judge, that man shall die; so you shall purge the evil from Israel.

Illustration of the Pharisees, the one born blind has not denied and admitted that he's blind, but the self-righteousness of the Pharisees blinded them so that they can't see the gift of eternal life of JESUS right in front of them. To the Pharisees who has the knowledge of the truth, but failed to apply it, is sinning wilfully. They volunteered to sin in front of JESUS, while the obvious of accepting the LORD JESUS as LORD, MASTER and SAVIOUR is right in front of their eyes.

John 9:41 (Amplified Bible)

9:41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but because you now claim to have sight, your sin remains. [If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but because you insist, We do see clearly, you are unable to escape your guilt.]

B. No sacrifice for sins is left

"there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward]."

Hebrews 10:10 (Amplified Bible)

10:10 And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).

Romans 6:10 (Amplified Bible)

6:10 For by the death He died, He died to sin [ending His relation to it] once for all; and the life that He lives, He is living to God [in unbroken fellowship with Him].

Hebrews 7:27 (Amplified Bible)

7:27 He has no day by day necessity, as [do each of these other] high priests, to offer sacrifice first of all for his own [personal] sins and then for those of the people, because He [met all the requirements] once for all when He brought Himself [as a sacrifice] which He offered up.

Hebrews 9:12 (Amplified Bible)

9:12 He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us).
