Summary: Verses 1-10 tells us about the Beast “out of the sea.” This Beast represents “the kingdom as well as civil and military power; we believe the beast in verse 1 is telling about the revived Roman Empire and then 2-10 about the Antichrist who will head up

REV. # 43~13:1 THE REVIVED ROMAN EMPIRE 2-20-10

Today we’re in the 13th chapter of the Revelation, “13” is the number of depravity and wickedness, for instance, in chapter 13: of John we are told about Judas Iscariot, the name Judas Iscariot ” has 13 letters in it, listen as I read John 13:26** which is two times 13.

Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

Ø And we find the Satanic trinity in

Revelation 16:13 **And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.-vs.13

This trio of wickedness will be set on deceiving and destroying the earth dwellers. In Revelation 13: we find two sections, and each section describes a beast.

Verses 1-10 tells us about the Beast “out of the sea.” This Beast represents “the kingdom as well as civil and military power; we believe the beast in verse 1 is telling about the revived Roman Empire and then 2-10 about the Antichrist who will head up this Empire.

Ø Have you ever wondered why God allows such evil to exit?

John’s vision of a beast rising up out of the sea (Rev. 13:1) and causing great havoc in the world does not explain why there is evil, but through this we can be encouraged as we see the evils of the world happen only by “permission” and the evil that does happen have limits imposed on it by God.

Notice: in verse 5 the beast, that is, the Antichrist “was given **authority to continue for forty-two months”

God allowed him to do so, but notice its not forever, it’s for the last half of the Tribulation period.

Today, as we watch televised reports of death and disaster around the world, and as we experience pain and suffering in our own families and among our neighbors, let us remember, its not going to last. God has placed limits on evil.

---------------------So let me say again, why does God allow such evil to exit?

Let me remind us all, that God said in Rom. 6:23 that the wages of sin is death.

Remember that the parents of us all, Adam and Eve, we’re warned not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil lest they die. –GEN.2:16—3:1-6

We all know the story, they disobeyed God, and the sin nature was then handed down to the entire human race, you may say, but brother Brown, I couldn’t help what Adam and Eve did, that wasn’t my fault.

No it was not our fault but let me ask you a question, “have you ever committed a sin, just one”?

And we all have, then Rom. 6:23 the wages of sin is death, applies.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Adam and Eve don’t cause us to sin, listen dear heart, we don’t sin because we’re sinners, we’re sinners because we sin.

But as we’re learning here in our study of the Revelation that God has a Master Plan, as we’ll see toward the end of our study that God does away with the devil, the antichrist, the false prophet, and all sin and also stubborn rebellious sinners that refuse to repent.

-------------------------

Verses 11-18 tells us about the 2nd beast, and he is comes up from “out of the earth.” We believe this 2nd beast is the False Prophet. He will head up the one world religion once the True Church has left; he will direct all people to worship the 1st beast, the Antichrist.

Both Beasts are instruments of the Dragon, which is the Devil. They’re called “beast” because their so evil and cruel.

Ø Listen as I read verses 1-3 of Revelation 13:

1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

I want to point something out right here, in putting these studies together I read behind a lot different people to see what they say about the verses at hand, and almost every one that I read behind to do with verse 1 say that a better translation of who it is standing “upon the sand of the sea” would be, “he” in stead of “I” stood upon the sand of the sea” most say that it was Satan because that Satan was cast out of heaven in chapter 12: down to the earth, and it does make some sense.
