We Are Made Alive in Christ
I. WHAT WAS OUR LIFE BEFORE JESUS:
A. We were Dead.
“…you were dead in your transgressions and sins…”
B. We were of This World.
“…you followed the ways of this world…”
C. We Deserved Punishment.
“…we were by nature objects of wrath…”
II. THEN GOD SHOWED US MERCY:
“…because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy…”
A. God Made us Alive.
“…made us alive with Christ…”
B. God Raised us Up.
“…raised us up with Christ and seated us with him…”
C. God Showed us Kindness.
“…expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus…”
III. AS A RESULT WE WERE SAVED BY GRACE:
1. Grace is Free Gift.
“…it is the gift of God…”
2. Grace Will Come Through Faith.
“…through faith…”
A gift God freely gives to those who believe, we can stop worrying about earning our salvation by being a “good person.”
• “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
• We do not perform good works to earn this grace, but once we receive His grace, we are empowered to express our faith through good works. Then we bring glory to God by becoming who He made us to be.
