Summary: The rebel attack on church.
THE CHURCH OF THYATIRA
Rev.2: 18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
One of Satan’s favorite tools is compromise.
This church was full of compromisers.
Compromise not only weakens a person but also the Church.
It opens the door to other sin which destroys Gods work.
It brings on indifference causes lack of dedication and last separation from God.
1. The Church
Located between Pergamos and Sardis.
It was at times called the worldly church of compromise.
Personality this is a message from the son of God
He sees all and knows all eyes penetrate like flames of fire.
Feet like glowing brass.
There is some praise. Ver.19
They are commended for six things
1 .Works
2. Charity
3. Service
4. Faith (really faithfulness)
5. Patience
6. Increased works God keeps a record.
Mal.3: 16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
2. Gods complaint
Jezebel (not the one in 1Kings) she encouraged the people to commit sexual sins.
She was stubborn ver.21
She would not listen to God and repent
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
3. Suffering
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
Pay attention now to what I am saying.
She will have intense affliction
Her immoral followers will also suffer unless they repent.
I will strike her children dead
All the churches know I search deep in the heart and mind.
4. Her control

False teaching vv24-28
She impressed on the people she teaching deeper truths
She was really leading them deeper in sin
Faithful testing vv26-27
Over comers will be rewarded
They will get power over nations
They will share in the millennial reign with Christ
Christ will give them the morning star
Rev.22: 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
