Summary: If were going to reign on the throne...SPEND SOME TIME IN THE CAVE

Psalm 57: ( read title) 1-11

God anointed David when he was young to be king

He was always fearless

He defeated Goliath

The nation began to sing songs about him

Saul (king) set out to kill David

Here David is hiding in a cave

He doesn’t belong there

The nation likes him more than Saul (ministers starting churches)

What would we do in the cave?

Pout, Mope, Gripe, Cry, Give Up, Get mad, Call Parents, Build a Pipe Bomb

David Starts Praising...

Christians think they can go from the CRADLE to the THRONE...OVERNIGHT

If were going to reign on the throne...SPEND SOME TIME IN THE CAVE

1. David Remembers His God- Vs 1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me For my soul trusts in You;

David was a valiant warrior...Great Mind...Great strategizer...

But at this moment...instead of trusting in himself...HE TRUSTS IN GOD

Prepare my sermons...study...pray...get notes...go over them

My worst sermons... When I trust in my notes

My best sermons... Use my notes to guide me... but put my total trust in God

Even though I sought the Lord...Prayed.... I HAVE TO TAP INTO HIM ON SUNDAYS

Place your trust in Him... If you’re not good at it... A CAVE IS COMING

2. David Remembers His Place- Vs 1 And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.

David never thought for minute... He was there forever

David knew he wasn’t called to the CAVE... PART OF THE PLAN

Too many Christians think they’re called to their cave

Troubles come...We live there, Stay there, don’t grow, don’t learn...QUIT

THE CAVE IS NOT YOUR DESTINY... IT’S YOUR UNIVERSITY

When you hear preachers talk about Abraham and Isaac... Usually Sad...Long Walk...Wood...Killing His Son.

That makes for Good Drama...Just Not True

Genesis 22: 1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, Abraham Here I am, he replied. 2 Then God said, Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about. 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.

Abraham knew what he had to do...He knew God would protect & provide

The Calamities will pass by

3. David Remembers His Weakness- Vs 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

David knew... God was one who did the work

Psalm 62: 11 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, 12 and that you, O Lord, are loving.

We must always know that:

GOD IS STRONG- He works through us, in us, with us, for us, by us, in spite of us

GOD IS LOVING- NT says, “God is Love.” He doesn’t have love... IS LOVE

God is performing all thing for me and you... Glory in your weakness

4. David Remembers His Priorities- VS 9 I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;

I will sing to You among the nations

Praise is vital to CAVE EXPERINCES

I could just convince the body of Christ... The importance of Worship... I’D RETIRE

Christians are most hard headed about: Money...Music

The 2 biggest expressions of praise
