Been looking at Covenants
This Sinai Covenant- Old Covenant- OLD TESTAMENT
Covenant of LAW-
The Law has Created more confusion that any other thing in the Bible
Why did God give us the Law? Should I obey it?
Can’t mix the 2 covenants- Old wine in new wine skins
If I said- “OLD DRESS- NEW DRESS” which ones for today
You have to understand- the difference between OLD AND NEW
Abraham- Isaac- Jacob- Joseph- Pharoh – moved to Egypt- 430 yrs- Moses
More Jews than there are people with FAITH
MORE BAPTIST THAN CHRISTIANS
“LET MY PEOPLE GO” 10 Plagues- All plagues were their gods
What motivated God to Set the Children FREE -----
God set His people free- because of the Abraham Covenant
The covenant of Law was God’s marriage contract with ISRAEL
Sinai and the law- was proving Israel was a NATION
God becomes a Husband they become a wife
Why did God give them law
1. The Knowledge of sin – to define sin- Romans 3:20
The law helps us remember WHAT IS WRONG!!
Romans 3:23 “ All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”
I WAS TAUGHT- SIN IS MISSING THE MARK
WHAT IS THE MARK?--- THE GLORY OF GOD
The glory of God, is God’s character-
Basically- GOD’s CHARACTER IS LOVE –
10Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Sin is not loving each other
2. Reveals your sin to You – I don’t care how good you are
YOU ARE A SINNER
Romans 5:20Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Cor. 15: 56The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
FINDING NEMO
Nemo gets kidnapped- Dori and Merlin go to find Nemo
Great White Shark- nice and kind
Invites Marlin and Dori- Support Group
These sharks are pretending
“I am a nice shark” “I am not a mindless eating maching”
“Fish are friends not food”
Dori bumps her nose- Bruce the Shark cares for minute- till he smells blood
Started chasing her---“Don’t fall off of the wagon”
The Blood revealed their true nature
The law doesn’t make you a sinner
The law shows you who you really are
The Law Shows you who you are-
But it cannot make you Righteous and Holy
Only Jesus can change your nature
1. It was added because of Sin
TILL WHEN?
2. Until the seed comes
Once we have been brought to Christ-
We no longer need a TUTOR
