I. Construction

A. One talent of pure gold

B. Six branches w/stalk in the middle = seven stalks

C. Ornamental workmanship

D. Each stalk with a bowl to hold oil (olive oil)

II. Use

A. Provide light for the sanctuary (Holy Place)

B. No outside light shown into the Tabernacle building

III. Symbolism

A. Jesus

1. Matthew 4:16, “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up”

2. Luke 2:32, “A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”

3. John 1:4, “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

4. John 8:12, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

5. Revelation 22:5, “And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”

B. Word of God

1. Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

2. Just as in the Tabernacle, if we desire to walk by the light of the world, we must get out of the Tabernacle. (Sunlight)

3. To see all that Christ is, we must enter the Tabernacle and allow His light to illuminate the truth about Him.

a. The Word of God is how we learn about Christ

b. Holy Spirit is our teacher (oil in lampstand)

c. Oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit

IV. Worship

A. We cannot approach God, we cannot see and understand anything about God, unless the light of Christ enables us to see.

1. This light comes from the Word of God

2. It implies life (ability to see)

3. It implies light (means by which we see)

B. The lampstand was the only source of light in the Tabernacle

1. The Word of God is the only source of truth and revelation

2. It should have a primary role in our worshi
