Summary: But His children should be aware of their own weakness, and should pray to be spared from exposure to such situations in which they are vulnerable.

Matthew 6:9-13-In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

And Do Not Lead Us Into Temptation, But Deliver Us From The Evil One.

When we read this verse it almost seems like it is contradict James 1:13, that God does not tempt anyone.

The word “temptation” can mean” “testing,” or “trial.”

James 1:13-15-Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

God does allow His children to pass through periods of testing.

But His children should be aware of their own weakness, and should pray to be spared from exposure to such situations in which they are vulnerable.

The point of all of this is that you are incapable of handling spiritual problems on your own. You need God’s help. He alone is capable of handling each and every problem you face.

The person who prays ‘Lead us not into temptation,’ and then goes to a place or puts themselves in a position to be tempted is a liar before God!

If we truly pray, lead us not into temptation,it will also means not to lead others into temptation.

Misery loves company!

“Have beer with me, just one beer, what’s it going to hurt?” You wouldn’t say that to a alcoholic?

Women wearing clothing two sizes to small!

Just being a bad example, (Talking one way, and living another) at work, at school, at home!

Satan tempts in three major ways:

1-Satisfied Our Needs

Genesis 3:1-Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Matthew 4:3-4-Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Satan will whisper in your ear, “You deserve to have anything you want, (You should be able to eat from any tree) you deserve to have your needs meet (You shouldn‘t be hungry, you shouldn‘t be poor, you shouldn‘t be sick)!”

2-Our Pride

Genesis 3:4-5-Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.

For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Matthew 4:5-6-Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”

Satan wants you to believe that somehow God is with holding something good from you!

3-Our Thirst For Power

Genesis 3:6-So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Matthew 4:8-9-Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

Satan likes to use this ploy, this tactic, because we all want more than we have, the grass is greener on the other side, and if you have ever have fell for one of these tricks, don’t feel to bad, Satan has had thousands of years and millions of guinea pigs to perfect his schemes on.
