"VICTORY SONG” Exodus 15:1-21

REVIEW

I. God designed a difficult situation 14:1-9

II. The people developed a destructive spirit 14:10-12

III. God dictated a definite strategy for deliverance 14:13-18

IV. God delivered a distinct solution 14:19-31

V. The People delivered a dazzling Song of praise 15:1-21

As 2 plus million grateful people gathered on the opposite side of the Red Sea which had once blocked their progress and watched the bodies of Egyptian warriors and their horses which had threatened to destroy them wash up on the shore a sense of gratitude and praise filled the whole camp and Moses led them in a most powerful song of praise to the Lord who delivered them.

I. Reasons to Sing of the Lord 15:1-5

This had to be a hurriedly composed praise event. Moses, inspired by the Holy Spirit, led the people to focus on the wonder of the God who chose them. Moses began by expounding reasons to exalt the Lord.

A. He is highly exalted 15:1a

Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and said, "I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted

The grandest purpose for singing of and to the Lord is because He is King over all the earth.

He is above every god. The obvious demonstration of His absolute rule over all the earth and His exalted position is the destruction of the enemy.

B. He has defeated the enemy 15:1b

the horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea. Exodus 15:1

God defeated the most powerful tool of Satan at the time. God utterly humiliated every object of veneration and worship in the world at that time. God disarmed all of the demonic strongholds of Egypt. This unknown God whose name was Yahweh is not the God of the valley, or the sea or the hills. This exalted God is the Lord of all and deserves to be the object of our praise and subject of our songs. God continually annihilates opposition and obliterates obstacles. Jesus Christ defeated Stan through His life, death and resurrection.

The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8b

When God had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him (Christ). Col. 2:15

"And when the Holy Spirit comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. John 16:8-11

God predicted the defeat of the enemy the same day the enemy scored the first victory over mankind.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed;

He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel." Genesis 3:15

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. Hebrews 2:14-15

The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 1 Cor. 15:26

8He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,

And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken.

9And it will be said in that day, "Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.

This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." Isaiah 25:8-8

Not only does our highly exalted God decidedly defeat the enemy but He dramatically delivers us.

13For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Col. 1:13-14

36Just as it is written, "For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Rom 8:36-37

14But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. 2 Cor. 2:14

11"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. Rev. 12:11
