What Does the Bible Say About Calling?
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong…
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
We are called, by the creator of the universe, to not only share a life with him but to display his love, grace and power to those around us. That is why we are called to live according to his standards. That as he lives in us, we might reflect him towards others.
