Summary: We will look at the calling of God upon his people and the manner in which God shows HIMSELF mighty in their lives.

The Appointed Prophet of God

God’s election

Shown mighty through God’s power

DBF, 9/1/02

You know when God called me to come out to Dillingham a little over 5 years ago, I had know idea of what HE was calling us to do.

It could have been as simple as helping someone out of a sticky situation…

It could have been being a friend to someone in order to show them a little picture of Jesus Christ…

It could have been to be a Bible Teacher, youth group leader, or any other position.

You see the only one who truly knew why I was called to Dillingham was God. HIS election and calling are sure. Once called we are required to seek to experience God as Henry Blackaby’s study so aptly assists one in doing.

Did I have questions as to why? Yes.

Did I have questions as to ability? Yes.

Did I have questions as to reality? Yes.

Did I have questions over Gloria and my many weaknesses? Yes.

Did I doubt that God was greater than any of these questions? No, I did not. I revel still like Paul for in my weakness God shows HIMSELF more than able.

Why did God choose me? Why would he choose You?

HE did not choose me for the works I had done…works or of no avail.

HE did not choose me for my great ability to draw crowds…as we are still awaiting the crowds.

He did not choose me for the knowledge I possessed…I am coming to know daily that we HE called me my knowledge of HIM was limited.

You see God looks at you and I and Moses and Aaron in the same light, God looks at our hearts and our willingness to give ourselves to doing HIS good and perfect will.

I like the Apostle Paul resign myself to being of no gain, save for Jesus Christ in my life and now for the accomplishment of HIS will as HE makes it known to me daily.

Let’s walk with Moses and Aaron today as we study the 7th chapter of the Book of Exodus.

God’s election

Exodus 6:28-7:7 (KJV)

And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt, [29] That the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, I am the Lord: speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee. [30] And Moses said before the Lord, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?

7[1] And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. [2] Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land. [3] And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. [4] But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. [5] And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them. [6] And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they. [7] And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

What should you and I do if God calls you to do his will?

We should gladly accept the honor and privilege that HE is extending to us to be a part of HIS kingdom work.

Why do many of us as Moses fail to heed HIS call?

Many of us rely more on ourselves and less on God. We see our weaknesses, inability, and lack of what we feel to be foundational knowledge of God.

Moses felt that he was inadequate for the task that God was calling him?

Many of us feel that we are inadequate for the task that God is calling us to?

Both are right of course if they are seeking to accomplish God’s will in their own strength. We must come to know that we can accomplish nothing that is good or worthy apart from God. HE is our rock and our salvation .
