GOING
Introduction:
We sometimes forget that just because we can’t see this battle between God and Satan doesn’t mean that it’s not happening. Everything that goes on has spiritual implications. Satan has been trying to look like God and be God since the time he was thrown out of Heaven. Satan has tried to convince us that there is more than one god; that there is more than one way to salvation; that we shouldn’t let people try to convince us of something; etc… Satan is a counterfeit.
The people had dealt with bad things for so long that they couldn’t believe something good might happen to them; so they just wouldn’t listen to it. Moses immediately questioned God’s plan. Obviously if the people he knew wouldn’t listen, then why would Pharaoh listen? It is interesting to me, that all of a sudden Moses’ genealogy “pops up”. Why? Let me ask you another question. Why did God send the plagues?
The Bible says that the plagues were brought upon Egypt so that the Pharaoh would know that God is God. God wanted to prove to Egypt who He was firsthand. He wanted to display His power so they would know Him. Why did Moses’ genealogy “pop up”? Moses had to be reminded that God is God before he could go and tell that to Pharaoh. Moses needed to go before Pharaoh with victory in mind. God wasn’t going to send Moses in until he was prepared. It is hard to go do something that you are not confident in. It is hard to be obedient to the Lord when you don’t want to do what He is asking. God must work in us before we can go for Him.
Before we can go for God, God must get rid of…
1. Our fear of man’s opinion.
2. Our fear of inadequacy.
3. Our fear of failure.
How did God do that?
God...
1. Reminds us that He made us and Who we belong to. God reminded Moses’ of his Creator and family line. Christians, we have been created by that same Creator and are grafted into that same line of Abraham.
2. Reminds us of how the enemy sees us. God reminded Moses’ of how the Pharaoh would see him.
3. Reminds us Who will do the talking. God reminded Moses’ of who was doing the talking.
Conclusion:
Now that God had Moses and Aaron ready, it was time for them to go to Pharaoh; and that’s what 80 year old Moses and 83 year old Aaron did. There comes a point that we just got to go. We need to stop talking and do what God calls us to do.
Once we go, we must understand that the enemy is going to fight back and we see that happening to Moses and Aaron. The Egyptian magicians were able to duplicate the miracle of the staff; but we can’t miss the fact that God was still victorious.
What does this mean for us?
1. God allows the enemy to use his power. God allows Satan to do his best to match Him.
2. God can swallow up the enemy whenever He is ready. God is in control of the timing of this.
3. God knows. God had already told Moses that Pharaoh was going to harden his heart. This is a tough thing for a minister to deal with. We must understand that the results are not up to us. If God says to do something, we are to do it; regardless of what the results are.
