Theme: Walk with Jesus

Text: Ruth 1:14-22

Introduction: Walking with Jesus is very rich experience in life. blessed are those who are chosen to be with him and walk with him(Ps.27:4). the experience of walking with God is always rich and glorious(Ex.34:35).

Committed Walk

Naomi was a bitter woman. She lost all her sweetness because of her family. She lost her husband, she lost her sons and lost all the blessings of the Bethlehem. She was forcefully taken away by her husband to the Moab. Bethlehem is a house of bread but she went to the land of curse. Later she comes back to the city where bread existed.

Ruth clung to her mother-in-law. The Lord expects our commitment like Ruth to follow him without turning back, without giving up, without expectations, walk with sacrifice, walk with love beyond relationships, love with true commitment. She said wherever you I will go. Wherever you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, your God my God. Where you die I will die.

If you walk with Jesus he will lead you to live like him. He will help you to love like him love beyond boundaries. He loved the lepers, he loved the Samaritans, he loved downtrodden, drunkards, needy. If we walk with Jesus we will build people.

Continuous Walk

God was walking in the Garden(Gen.3:8). Enoch walked with God and at the end he was disappeared(SS Story can be told){Gen.5:22-23}. Then we see the man Noah walked with God while the earth was full of corruption and filled with violence (Gen.6:9-12). Elisha walked with his master Elijah(2 Ki.2:1-8). God told Israelites that “I will walk among you” (Lev.26:12). Solomon was admonished to walk in God’s way(1 Ki.3:14). David decided to walk with integrity of heart in your house(Ps.101:2). Sometimes we walk through midst of troubles(Ps.138:7), sometimes in the valley of death(Ps.23:4).

Concurred walk

Be of the same mind, walking together with one accord. Prayer walk and praise walk(Josh.6:6-7). Walk with Christ and talk with him on the word of God(Lk.24:17). I was happy when they said to me let us go to the sanctuary(Ps.122:1). If you don’t agree with God, you can’t walk with him. many had taken back their steps when Jesus spoke of the Cross. At the end only women were at the Golgotha.
