Summary: What Does the Bible Say About Confession

What Does the Bible Say About Confession

1 JOHN 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

JAMES 5:16

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

PROVERBS 28:13

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

ROMANS 10.9

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

PHILIPPIANS 2:11

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I am in awe that our words have so much impact but this is God’s thought and design. In our broken state, in our self inflicted mess, he gave us a way out - through Christ and through our WORDS! We can speak confession - Christ is Lord and we can render our sins forgiven through confession (words).
