Summary: Father's Day 2018, time for father's to take charge. A bridge can be a barrier or a route to safety which is it for you?

Fathers, by the time you’re grown and became husbands and now dads you have encountered many changes. Life hasn’t always been kind. Careers may not have gone as you had planned.

You have came upon many obstacles and bridges to cross. How many times have you fought off the distractions? How many times have you crossed that bridge? Do you hesitate to cross because of not seeing the other side? Are you afraid to take a risk? Bridges are made to get us to the other side, not to be a barrier.

climb up it or cross it. A bridge though spans across al the waterfalls of life. That bridge for us today is Jesus Christ. When all we had was a grave in darkness he split Heaven wide open with a bridge known as the Cross of Calvary.

His substitutionary sacrifice enabled us to reach Heaven if we call out upon his name. By faith in Jesus Christ his cross spanned the gap between man and God. In Acts 16:30 the jailer cried out,"what must I do to be saved?" The answer was pure and simple, believe on Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved. Fathers, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ here and now today.

For those who do believe.

Now is the biggest choice you face, now you’re a daddy. Will you raise your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord God?

This morning I will endeavor to bring you the tools you must have to be successful.

You may not actually wear these tools. You may think it sounds ridiculous to dress up in this fashion.

I have learned though they are a vital must for the Christian household.

3 John verse 4, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.

Daddy is this you?

1 John 1:13,14

13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.

14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.

Notice the verses start the same way. You know him? Do your children know him? You must show Jesus to them if they don’t.

You know him the scripture states. You know what is true, Do you love your children enough to teach them the truth?

Let’s take a look on how to prepare for fatherhood and the tools you must have.

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
