As we enter into the into this new year we need a clear vision and understanding of God’s Word in order to live a victorious Christian life. Although the KJV is a popular translation of this verse: the NKJV and other translation are more true to the original Hebrew Scriptures. They state this text as follows.

Proverbs 29:18 (NKJV) 18Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

In fact the New Living Translation of this verse describes the times in which we find ourselves living today.

Proverbs 29:18 (NLT) 18When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is happy.

As never before in the history of our nation people no longer accepting the divine guidance that only comes from God. Many want to do only what think is right in there own eyes. We have just seen it in the enactment of same sex marriage in our own state, which is a direct violation of the divine principles in the Word of God.

Although our nation was founded on the Judeo-Christian principles found only in God’s Word, we find it distancing it’s self further and further far those principles. And now we reaping the results of it in almost every of our society today.

We are admonished throughout the Bible to live by or adhere to Word of God as a guidebook, a source of strength, hope, and a source of food for the soul.

In order in made it through this New Year we must purpose in our heart to follow hard after God as Daniel and he friends did. Walking obedience to God in spite what others around may be doing.

Daniel 1:8 (NKJV) 8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

1 Peter 1:22 - 25 (NKJV) 22Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24becaues “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25But the word of the LORD endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

The Word of God offers us hope as in the midst of the chaos of these days as we must focus of Christ. As we shared in our text last Sunday from Hebrews 12, we must look unto Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:2 - 3 (NKJV) 2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Today we need a clear Vision or Revelation of Jesus Christ, to know that He is our only hope in the wickedness and darkness of this world. We need a clear Vision or Revelation that He is the only begotten Son of God and the only way to eternal salvation. To keep a clear vision, we must purposely and regularly refocus our eyes, hearts and lives on Him, least we get distracted by the cares of life that constantly try to draw our attention away from God and His Son. In order to make it today and everyday we must ever be drawing nearer to Him.
