I. THE TROUBLES OF A MOTHER

A. Afflictions do not dissolve affections. Just the opposite is true with mothers.

1. Mary at the foot of the cross (John 19:25-27)

B. Being a mother means sacrifice.

C. Proverbs 31:13-22

II. A MOTHER’S TESTING

A. Being a mother is more than giving birth. It is for life.

B. Jesus was silent, difficult for the mother, but she remained.

1. The disciples became agitated. She still remained.

2. The true test of love is difficult times (Jas. 2:14-17)

a. If we only serve when it is convenient is that love?

b. If we are only parents when convenient, is that love?

C. The gift of eternal life is greater than gift of physical life.

1. II Tim. 3:14, 15

2. Where did Timothy learn those things? II Tim. 1:5

a. Obstacles: Father was a Greek.

b. Difficult time for ladies.

D. Once a mother, always a mother.

III. A MOTHER’S TRIUMPH (Mk. 7:30)

A. Faith was her victory, seeing the unseen.

1. We often do not have the ability to see (by faith) souls pulled from eternal fire (Jude 23).

2. What picture do we have for our children?

B. This mother had humble, sacrificial love.

1. Selfishness rules the hearts of men today.

2. Mothers, your sacrifices are appreciated.

CONCLUSION:

A. Let’s give our children the greatest gift. Let’s make a determination to get them to heaven.

B. We have to be the right example.
