A LETTER FROM THE LORD
Text: Revelation 3:7, 8
Introduction:
• What if Jesus wrote us a letter like He did these seven churches in Asia?
• Each letter has a commendation, a complaint, and a blessing or promise
I. Commendation
a. Fellowship
b. Acceptance
c. Tolerance
d. Not compromising
e. Listening to the Word
II. Complaint
a. Not doing enough to lead people into God’s kingdom
i. James 1:27
ii. James 2:14 – 17
iii. Ways of getting people into God’s kingdom
1. Scare them
2. Shame them
3. Bribe them
4. Love them
b. Need to love people with the heart of God
i. John 3:16
ii. 2 Peter 3:9
iii. Jesus left the 99 to seek and to save the one that was lost
III. Promise
a. Jude 21 – 23
b. James 5:20
c. Psalm 126:6
Conclusion:
• Jesus opened a door of opportunity for the church at Philadelphia
• He is opening the same door for us
• It is our decision to walk through the door or to shut the door
• What will we do?
