Summary: If God thought well enough of me to send His Son to die for my sins, It’s reasonable for me to sacrifice myself to Him.

A REASONABLE THING TO DO

Rom 12:1-2

12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

beseech -To request earnestly; beg

reasonable - Being within the bounds of common sense:

Paul’s beseeching was because he knew the consequences of half-hearted living, and the rewards of a sacrificed life.

A half-hearted effort is unacceptable to God. Luke warm/cold.

You can enjoy the common blessings that God offers mankind such as air, sunshine, etc.

But nothing compared to what the dedicated life receives.

Do we love God more than anything in this world, or is He placed at the same level as our hobbies, jobs, friends, or even family members?

Jesus said, "if we love these things more than Him we are not worthy of Him.

Consequences of sin- the wages of sin has not changed.

The soul that sinneth shall die.

Look at the price these people paid for their sins.

Ananis & Saphira, Lied and died

Akin Stole and died

Samson -moral problem and died

Demas- fell in love with world again, after an experience with God and died. (No record of him coming back)

You can see why Paul is begging us-

Rewards of a sacrificed life

1. Forgiveness

2. deliverance

3. daily grace

4. name in book of life

5. eternal life and much more

Reasonable service- Look at what Christ did for us?

V2 His plea not to be conformed to this world is as fervent as his cry to live holy in V1.

God’s will is good and acceptable and perfect.

God’s perfect will for your life is found in the Bible.

God’s will is that you

1. accept Him as savior

2. worship Him

3. Learn more about Him

4. Obey Him

5. serve Him

Therefore the will of God is:

12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
