Summary: Learn from Isaiah and Jacob what a face to face experience with God will do to the believer.

An Encounter with God

Turn to Isaiah 6:1-8

I. Something More Than A Shout (Introduction)...

I’m glad I go to a church where I can lift up the

name of the Lord right out loud! Amen?

I love singing songs, clapping and shouting in

church just as much as the next guy, maybe even

more!

But somewhere in your walk with God you have

to grow beyond just a singing and a shouting

relationship with God.

I’m not saying we have to quit shouting and

singing!

I’m saying that we gotta do more than just come

to Church on Sunday and Tuesdays to shout and

sing,

And go home and do nothing until it’s time to go

back to Church again!

Cause all the shouting and singing and stomping

in the world ain’t going to do us any good if we

don’t learn how to walk and live for God!!

And the only way to walk with God is to actually

walk with Him.

The only way to live for God is to live with God

in you!

What I’m saying is we have to have an encounter

with God.

We have to come into His presence.

And not just corporately but personally.

Cause if we don’t actually make personal contact

with God we’re just shouting at the walls. Amen?

If God’s not present in our lives we’re just

singing to each other. Amen?

Somewhere we have to reach the point that our

relationship with God is an intimate one.

A relationship that involves actually talking to

God or Singing to God on a personal level.

Not just singing about God to everyone else.

Amen?

I might talk about Michael Jordan. I might even

brag on his abilities,

but that’s as far as my relationship with

Michael Jordan goes.

I don’t really know him I know of him.

I don’t really speak to him I speak of him.

But Mrs. Michael Jordan knows him on a

personal level.

An intimate level where she talks and he listens

and he talks and she listens. Amen?

This is what I’m preaching about this morning!

Having an encounter with God, that’s more than

just an emotional encounter

I’m talking about having a true encounter with

our Savior!

II. An Intimate Relationship With God...

An intimate relationship with God.

How many knows that we are the Bride of

Christ! Amen?

And how many knows that He desires to have an

intimate relationship with us?

Well I want what Jesus wants!

I want to bring about that intamacy in my walk

with Christ. Amen?

I want to have an Encounter with Christ that

does more than just excite me,

I want to be changed forever!

I want a relationship with the Lord that isn’t

based on just my "lip service" to him but its

based upon my "heart service" for him. Amen?

See, Worshipping God isn’t just some routine

that we go thru.

Its not like playing the right note on an

instrument or singing the right tune in a song

but its having an actual encounter with the Lord

of Lord, and King of Kings!

We sing praise to come into His presence but

once He shows up that’s when we start to

worship.

That’s when we surpass all the shouting and

singing and just stand amazed.

And it’s at that moment as you stand in awe that

your life becomes changed forever.

III. Isaiah’s Experience...

Let’s look at what happened to Isaiah....

Isa 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

Isa 6:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
