All About Praise

Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power, praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Psalm 150

1. When Do I Praise?

 At all times. “Praise the Lord” is a timeless and present statement.

 “Praise the Lord” means now and that will always be when.

 The time is always right to praise Him, and it doesn’t matter what is or what isn’t happening in your life.

 Our praise need not be conditional or circumstantial.

2. Where Do I Praise?

a. In His sanctuary.

 Whenever we come together it should be a celebration of praise.

 We should continue together with the praise that we have already been giving to God all week.

 We can’t allow the sanctuary to be the only place of our praise.

b. Wherever you find yourself.

 “In his mighty heavens” speaks of everywhere.

 “Heavens” speaks of the space between the Heavens about where He dwells and the earth beneath. It is referring to the atmosphere.

 Where is the atmosphere? The atmosphere is everywhere.

 No matter where you are at, that is the place to praise.

 Acts 16, Paul & Silas were in a Philippian jail and they lifted up their voice in praise.

3. Why Do I Praise?

a. “For his acts of power”

 Everything that God does for us is worthy of our praise.

 How often do we forget to thank Him for His goodness to us?

 Of the 10 lepers Jesus healed, only 1 of them turned back to give Him praise.

b. “For his surpassing greatness”

 We praise Him for Who He is.

 He doesn’t need to do another thing to be worthy of our praise.

4. How Do I Praise?

a. Praise Him on the instruments.

b. Praise Him with dancing.

c. Praise Him with shouting.

d. Praise Him with singing.

e. Praise Him with the lifting of your hands.

f. Praise Him in how you live your life.

g. Praise Him with your gifts and abilities.

h. Praise Him in all that you say and do.

5. Who Should Praise?

 “Everything that has breath.”

 As long as we are breathing, we should be praising the Lord.
