Summary: I used to want toys, bikes, balls and such like. Now I realize that I need something that money cannot buy. It has been provided in Jesus Christ.

All I Want For Christmas Is _______________________.

Isa. 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (KJV)

(RVG04)

Just what is your Christmas wish? Children can give you a list of all kinds of toys and gadgets, from model airplanes and dolls to laptops and fur coats.

Most of those gifts, after a few weeks or months end up in the garage or in the trash.

Hopefully, some of us have matured, and what we really would like for Christmas is something that is cannot be bought with money.

The prophet Isaiah gives 5 names to describe the best gift any of us could ever receive.

He is Wonder of Wonders. No one even comes close to all that makes Him amazing.

He is Mighty God. There is no power that compares to His.

He is Everlasting Father. No beginning and no end.

He is the Prince of Peace. The One who can calm whatever storm you find yourself in.

Let us look more in depth at the title we passed over. He is Counsellor.

I. He will Listen to You

Jesus will hear you out.

1 Jn. 5:13,14

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV)

(RVG04)

14 ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: {in: or, concerning} (KJV)

(RVG04)

II. He Totally Understands Your Situation

Psychiatrists and Psychologists try to give counseling from their limited ability to decipher your situation. They can only go so far.

Jesus made you and I. As creator, He knows exactly what makes you tic, and He knows everything about your situation from the vantage point of past, present, and future.

III. He will Tell You the Truth

Our friends may not want to hurt our feelings, so they sometimes tell us something less than the truth. Others may see an oppurtinity to take advantage of you, so they deceive you with a smile.

Christ will tell you like it is. He confronted the woman at the well and lovingly told her that he knew about her marriage problems. He confronted Peter about his boasting and told him that the cock would not crow before Peter had denied Him three times.

How often we really don't want to know the truth, because it will require us to live differently.

Prov. 27:6

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. (KJV)

(RVG04)

IV. The Lord has your Well-being in Mind.

He desires the best for your life.

Jer. 29:11

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (KJV)

(RVG04)

When God gives you counsel, it may not be what you want to hear, but it will be what you need to do.

V. He will Give you Clear Direction.

Most people seeking counseling are looking for hope. One needs to know that their situation can get better.

Jesus will not mince words, but He will tell you exactly what you need to do.

Mat. 16:24

24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (KJV)

(RVG04)

God has no intentions for you to fall or fail. He has provided power to protect us.

1 P. 1:5

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (KJV)
