Focus Passage: Isaiah 9:6, Rev. 19:11-16

Introduction: A little girl climbed up onto Santa’s lap in the mall. As soon as she was settled, Santa said, “And what

would you like for Christmas this year?”

The girl’s eyes grew wide and her jaw dropped as she looked at Santa with horror. Then she said, “Didn’t you get my email?”

I. Everyone has the need of rescue

a. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23 NASB)

b. For the wages of sin is death, (Romans 6:23a NASB)

c. "For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matthew 24:38-39 NASB)

II. Jesus is the Rescuer

a. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NASB)

b. And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. (Revelation 19:11 NASB)

i. he was faithful - or worthy of the confidence of his church in delivering it from all its enemies; and true to all the promises that he has made to it.

c. Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1:10b NASB)

III. You MUST ask to be rescued by Jesus

a. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, (John 1:12 NASB)

b. And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16 NASB)
