Summary: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it says: Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Easier read than lived isn’t it.

DO YOU EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE DAYS?

Do you ever have you ‘one of those’ days?

You know the type of day I mean.

One of those days when you could have a lie in and the postman gets you out of bed at 7am.

Or one of those days when you sleep through your alarm and wake up 5 minutes after you should have arrived at work?

Or one of those days when you absolutely need to leave early to be somewhere on time and your child decides that they are going to spend as long as possible getting ready for school!

One of those days when no matter how hard you try you can’t find the time to pray or read your Bible?

One of those days when you hear a friend or loved one is more than a little unwell.

One of those days when everything in this world just seems to cause you pain.

Maybe there are times when it feels like it has been one of those days all week long!

Those are the days when we question what is going on.

Those are the days we wonder if we will be able to make it through them alive.

So how do we get through one of ‘those days'?

What is the secret? What is the solution?

If you are on Facebook you may have seen this solution this week: "Some mornings it’s best to just fill the sink with coffee, dunk your head in and suck."

It’s an option - a caffeine high to boost you through the day - or maybe for some people a quick swig of something stronger ‘just to take the edge off'

Not really a long-term solution is it. So what is?

At one time or another, we will all experience ‘one of those days'.

Life can be inconvenient, life can be difficult, life can be extremely stressful.

Sometimes our lives can be far more complex and dramatic than any movie or TV show could ever be.

We are human, we have emotions and sometimes the day brings more than we think we can bear.

We all have wishes, hopes, dreams, and prayers, some fulfilled, some yet to pass,

some that we may never see answered.

Sometimes we say too much,

other times we do not say enough.

Sometimes we need someone to share our heart with, sometimes we know we should pray,

but we can’t seem to find the words.

We say we have faith in God and His Divine Guidance but struggle to trust Him in those days.

When we should choose to trust,

we choose to try in our own strength,

or we choose our way instead of God’s way.

On those days we can react in a way that gives no glory to God.

On those days we can build a barrier between ourselves and God and then wonder why we feel afraid or alone and why we struggle to know what to do.

When we need to know God is with us,

when we need to know God is for us,

when we need to know Father God loves us and cares for us,

why do we ignore Him?

When we need to know what to do,

when we need divine wisdom and guidance,

why is prayer often the last thing we do instead of the first?

Our God is Eternal, He is the God who is always there - morning, noon, and night.

Every day God is listening.

Every day God is willing and able to guide us.

Every day God is able to strengthen and bless us.

It doesn’t matter what kind of day you have had or are having, Good days or bad days or even one of those days - every day is a day when we can come to our God and speak to Him in prayer.

---------------------------------------------------------

When was the last time you prayed and asked God to strengthen you?

When was the last time you prayed and asked God in difficult circumstances for your spirit to be calmed?

When was the last time you prayed and asked God to increase your Faith?

When was the last time you prayed and asked God to forgive you?

When was the last time you prayed and asked God for a fresh encounter with Him in your life?

When was the last time you prayed and asked God to take Divine Control of your life?

Are you willing to surrender all to Him and allow His Influence, His Power, and His Love to guide you every day?

Friends, the long term solution is Jesus.

He is the one that can make a real difference in our lives.

He is the one we need to seek.

He is the one who can help.
