An UNASHAMED SERVANT(Mother)—2Timothy 1:5

*This is a Mother's Day excerpt from 2Tim. 1:1-12.

Attention:

Things I've Learned From My Children(HONEST & NO KIDDING)

•A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. foot house 4 inches deep.

•A 3 year olds voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

•When you hear the toilet flush & the words "Uh-oh," it's already too late.

•Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, & lots of it.

•A six year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day

•DVD players do not eject PB&J flatbread sandwiches...even though TV commercials may show they do.

•Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

•ALWAYS look in the oven before you turn it on! Plastic toys do not like ovens.

•The fire department in in our town has a 5 minute response time.

*The mind of a six-year-old is wonderful.

Christians must unashamedly honor Christ.

5—Unashamed Servants of God...

INSTILL God’s GOOD NEWS Within FAMILY(:5)

Explanation:(:5a)Secure for the family, opportunity w/the Good News

:5—“when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois & your mother Eunice, & I am persuaded is in you also.”

In Timothy’s faithful ministering, Paul recalls the “genuine” nature(sincerity) of Timothy’s “faith.”

Such “faith” was always present in Timothy, whether it was openly/currently manifested or not.

Timothy’s “genuine faith” is the same “genuine faith” which had dwelt first of all in his own “grandmother, Lois” & also “in his mother Eunice.”

Paul was absolutely convinced(“persuaded”) that the same “genuine faith” was also in Timothy as well. Such “genuine faith” is “faith” that is built around the truth from God’s voice as well as from His written revelation. It is a “faith” that is intended to be shared.

*Family is the first point of sharing the “genuine faith” that is born of Christ Jesus. Those whom we care about the most are those of our own immediate family.

Those closest to us are the ones with whom we will first share Christ.

These know us well & know our sincerity or lack thereof.

These know our motives because they know how we may react in certain situations.

These know if & when we have been genuinely affected by something.

These are most attentive to our troubles as well as to our greatest joys & celebrations.

Paul is urged to make this statement directly to Timothy as he has a fatherly concern which is voiced in the next verse.

*Mothers are ultimately teachers. Godly mothers are teachers of God’s truth to their children. They will not be satisfied appeasing their children with worldly platitudes & other lies.

Godly mothers lodge The Good News In their children...in those they love dearly.

Unashamed godly mothers(& fathers), grandmothers(& grandfathers), aunts(& uncles), etc., make certain that every opportunity is used to glorify God thru His Good News that is in Christ.

*I don’t want you to walk away with the idea that your ‘family’ is the only ‘people-group’ with whom we should share God’s Good News.

God must come first in our lives!(Mk. 6:33—“But seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness, & all these things shall be added to you.”). If God has blessed you with family, then He has blessed you with grave spiritual responsibilities, both close & distant.
