Are You A Son Or A Servant?

KEY TEXT READ LUKE 15:11-32 & ROMANS 8:14-17

Now lets set up this scene (text luke 15:11-32)

As you will notice in verse 11 the man had TWO sons. And one took his inheritance and left. Then wasted his substance with (Riotous) unsaved living...When he had nothing he joined to a citizen of that country, and then worked in the swine fields (This was a disgrace for a Jew to work or deal with swine.) thus he had reached the bottom of his rope then, He was so hungery he desired, lusted to fill his belly with the carob pods the pigs were eating.( Carob pods were eaten only when you were in desparate need.) Then he realized where he was and remembered his father, (II Chron.7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.) Then he came up with a plan I’ll go to my fathers house and say "I have sinned against heaven and before thee and am not worthy to be called your SON, make me as one of thy hired SERVANTS.. All the way home he no doubt practiced this saying over and over in his mind saying I have sinned against heaven and you and am not worthy to be called your son make me as one of your servants. But as he came down the road.. The father sitting on the porch swing looking down the road sees a fimaliar sight a young man in the distance "he walks like my SON thinks the father then he watches a little closer HE IS MY SON." The father then runs to meet the son. The son looks up in time to see the father running toward him falls to his knees to say the saying "I have sinned against you and against heaven and am no more worthy to be called thy SON," But it is at this instance the father interups him pulls him up off the ground wraps his arms around him crying with joy "his DEAD SON is alive". Thus the father tells the SERVANTS to get a robe( Isiah 61: 10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.) a ring to put on his finger (this is gods undying love Psalm 136"HIS MERCY ENDURETH FOREVER"). The father took him back as a SON not a SERVANT as he said MY SON was dead is alive again.. HIS SON not his SERVANT. Praise God.

Then the other brother, remember, There are TWO. He comes back home after being in the fields working. To a party and questions one of the servants as to what is going on, your brother came home and your father has killed the fatted calf and is throwing this great party. The Other brother gets angry. The father comes out to find out what is wrong with the other brother. To which the other brother states "your son" he did not say my brother! And tells the father I have served you these many years and I haven’t even gotten a goat from you. He was serving him as a servant so far. The fathers reply is one to look at he starts by saying SON (isn’t that interesting SON) your always with me and ALL THAT I HAVE IS YOURS. (As SONS of God all that he has is ours when we realize we are his SONS not just his servants. It is O.K. to SERVE GOD BUT AS SONS NOT JUST SERVANTS!!) AND ALL THAT I HAVE IS THINE.( All God has is ours we just fail to ask.)Then he reminded him, YOUR BROTHER, he is my SON too.. I believe the other brother then went in and greeted his BROTHER. We need to realize we are SONS not just servants.

As the father of three children myself it amazes me when someone tears something up they say my dad can fix that, he can do anything they don’t put a limit on me.

But a Servant will always see the masters limitations.

Romans 8:14-17

A servant serves his master out of necessity. When the Master dies they usually received their freedom .not part of the inhartience.

But a SON received an inheratence aren’t you glad to be a son.

Remember when Moses sent out the twelve to spy out the land of Israel only two looked at it as SONS we can do it lets go GOD is with us. What did the 10 get nothing but the two got their inheritance. I AM A SON SERVING AS A SON.
