Summary: The current Corona virus has radically changed our world. Those who have caught the virus are considered contagious. Shouldn't Christians be considered contagious?

Are You Contageous?

John 1:35-42

35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.

36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!"

37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), "where are You staying?"

39 He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).

40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated, the Christ).

42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which is translated, A Stone).

2020 is going to be remembered for a long time.

The Corona virus caused major changes

in the way we live our lives.

All the professional sports teams

stopped having fans watching in the stadiums

and were forced to adopt new schedules.

Businesses, restaurants and churches were closed.

High school football and volleyball teams were shut down.

Summer vacation plans were abandoned.

We were told to stay home and avoid being in big crowds.

People who caught the virus

and people who had been in contact with those people

were put in quarantine.

Those people were considered contagious

and dangerous for us to be around them.

Well, what I’m about to say might sound strange.

I believe all Christians should be contagious!

If you are a born again Christian

ou should be spreading what you have!

Today I’m going to tell you about Edward Kimball.

Ed Kimball was a Sunday school teacher.

One day, a doctor told Kimball he was going to die.

He had very little time to live.

So he wanted to lead all his Sunday School students to the Lord.

One boy didn’t seem to understand what the Gospel was about.

So Kimball went to the shoe store

where this young man was stocking shelves.

He met him in the stock room

He told him the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus.

That young man was Dwight L. Moody!

In the stockroom on that Saturday,

Dwight Lyman Moody accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

In his lifetime, Moody touched two continents for God.

Untold thousands came to faith in Jesus Christ!

The Moody Bible Institute educates hundreds of missionaries…

preachers and Bible teachers…every year.

The Moody Broadcasting Network provides 24 hours a day

Christian programming over many Christian radio stations.

There is also the Moody Press publishing company in Chicago

That prints thousands of Christian books.

There’s no way to know how many souls have been saved…

because of the work of Dwight L. Moody.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Listen again to Verses 37, 40

37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

I like that word “followed”!

To become a “follower” of Jesus requires a change.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

John 3:7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

Have you been born again?

Before you can tell others about Jesus,

you must know what you are talking about!

You have to be saved before you can share Jesus!

You also have to be confident that you are saved..

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

Contagious Christians must have salvation nailed down.

When there is a lack of confidence in your own salvation,

there will be a lack of power in your witness.

Yes! It is possible to know for sure.

1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Contagious Christians must understand their salvation experience.

Only then can you tell others what has happened in your life.

Your most powerful illustration of salvation

is your own personal experience with Jesus Christ.

Andrew was able to share with Peter

because he had already met Jesus Christ.
